Brief
BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2017 at Burton Constable Hall outside Hull, two days across the May bank holiday. The main stage, a tented second stage and a BBC Introducing stage fed the BBC Radio, Music and Multiplatform production: iPlayer streaming, social coverage and photography syndication out to the wider Radio 1 ecosystem. The weekend also carried Radio 1's first on-site Periscope livestreams.

Backstory

In 2017, I worked as the On-Site Production Coordinator for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Hull, managing key logistics for crew and suppliers at one of the UK's biggest music festivals.

Alongside the core production work, I supported Radio 1's first on-site Periscope livestreams, helping set up and maintain internet connectivity for the digital team to ensure smooth, reliable broadcasts.

The Periscope work was an experiment with new channels. There wasn't really a template for producing a live festival stream on a platform like that, so the team was working it out as we went. My role was supporting that build and helping keep things stable on the way to air.
